Cinderella's Slippers! Proof a New Pair Can Change Your Life

I Love a good snowstorm!! Especially days that have a high wind on the Island and everything is shut down and we stay in our P'J's and slippers all day.

I was inspired by our last storm to combine a cloud white yarn with a rose  and gold.  This latest colour combo celebrates our last snow storm. I make these in baby booties, kids & children even adult sizes.  What makes the cloud look? It is the super soft yarn that Bernat has introduced me to. I'm all about comfort these days so if your anything like I am, you will want a pair of these for everyone you know!

I'm a Grandmother who has spent precious time putting socks and slippers back onto little feet. When I designed these I made sure to make them stay on slippers or bed socks with a drawstring.

Years ago I worked nursing elderly Among the many complaints I often heard. "The knots in the crochet hurt the bottom of my feet."
So I designed this slipper with a Canadian made wool felt sole. I cut and punch the holes and crochet a slipper onto the soft warm sole.  My slippers found their way to many a seniors feet especially the ones with diabetes. Then I started hearing, "are these every cozy, warm, comfy, I don't take them off, I wear them to bed, oh they are great they don't hurt the bottom of my feet."

I love the comments on my slippers and they have become my best seller at farm markets, and events around the island as "Cinderella's Slippers.  If you are visiting Prince Edward Island this summer be sure to look me up at MadeByGrandmaHands.etsy.com

Grandmother Abuse

I recently haven't been around, Oh you noticed!

I worked so hard to read, write, comment on blogs and get followers and then life got real for me and it all went to hell in a hand basket, then gave it all up to take care of all these cranky, don't eat peas, tv watching, video playing snot nosed generation of grandchildren I have.  Did I say that? I think I might have.

Don't get me wrong I love children especially the behaved ones, and I also love crafting and blogging. I've done neither of the last two as I am an Abused Grandmother.

It started last June when my daughter-in-law went back to work and I was watching little Eric full time, FULL TIME, means going shopping after work, it means staying at work later because someone didn't show for shift.  It turned out to be 7am to 8:30pm most days and I was exhausted. Then my lovely daughter left her husband and moved in with us. I'm a full time, taxi, mother, diaper changer, cook, entertainer, referee, the list goes on.  It starts at somewhere in the middle of the night because Victoria works shift work so my baby monitor wakes me up and I stub my toes in the dark to get to Hazel before she wakes anyone else up. God only knows if a child awakes in the middle of the night and they are 4, they think it is morning already and the tv should be on, and "I'm hungry, I'm hungrr" plays over and over.  When it is morning, Ana gets driven  to School, I fight with Rory to get dressed because he wants to just watch tv, he says he doesn't do anything yet because in his words, "I don't want to". I then take him by the hand to his room where he sits on his bed and hisses at me like he is a cross between and vicious snake and a grandma eating monster. What the hell is that?

You know when it is going to be one of those days.  Today I was all excited because I wasn't on the clock. Ya, no the kids are staying over at their dads, my son and his family aren't here YET.  So I decide to start to blog again because it is something I like to do. Well I'm typing away and I hear Hazel who is 10 months old talking away in her crib, every once in awhile she lets out a cry that sounds something like, "grandma, come get me mom is gone to work and my brother and sister stayed at dad's house yeasterday but he was busy so mom brought me home, did you not read the note she left you?"

I thought I would blog today, so I'm going to anyway she can stay safe in her crib until I get this done. But this is what I wan't to be doing and won't get a chance to.

Make Moccasins

Make Jewelry

I wanted to finish beading my vamp for a pair of moccasins

I was going to work on a weighted blanket, get it finished

Maybe make a bracelet

Or make a hair stick for this tooled butterfly

Whatever I thought I was going to do today will be put on hold until 3:30pm. I guess her chatter has gotten a tad bit loud by now I should go get her some breakfast.

Just remember, Grandmothers are there to teach, hold, love, and have fun.
If you have children - think about the short time A grandmother has.
