Don't Fence Me In

Sometimes good fences just provide good frames for pictures

Other times good fences protect us from danger

 

 

While other fences are to keep you out,

lol, I watched these deer jump this fence like it was a daily routine

for them to get into this ladies back yard and eat the ground apples.

Hoo Doos

Most of our adventures today were in Drumheller

 

 

It took a bit of driving this am, only

 

 

After Grandpa had his breakfast that is.

We visited a swinging bridge and on the other side found this tree that a beaver had made a good attempt at cuttng down. Now I know it doens't look like much but I think Guy and I would of not been able to hold hands around this tree it was so big. Looks like the City got to it and fenced it just in time.

Then onto the Hoo Doos

Ya right! And what is a Hoo Doo?

 

Come on I'll show you what a Hoo Doo is.

These are Hoo Doos

They are mostly sandstone and coal and their formation has come by thousands of years of erosion.

 

 

Their pillar like formations are all different and if you look closely you can see the layers of time in them.

 

There was a fenced off area where the Hoo Doos might get damaged, then there was an area where you could walk in and around.

A quick visit to the informaiton centre that is the building under and in the dinosaur. If you look you will see the doors to the information centre to the left of our camper. Now I don't want to say this is big or anything but it is said to be the largest dinosaur in the world.

We drove into the night

Then we settled for the night in

Red Deer, Alberta

 

 

I'm going to be dreaming of Hoo Doos all night, it sure was an amazing sight.

Lethbridge to Calgary

Our Morning got off to a slow start but when you see what we packed in today I don't know where we found the time.

It was a museum in the side of the mountain, lots of artifacts and not overly priced.

It is just North of here that Tanner Craswell, Mitch Maclen and Tabitha Steppel met their death on the side of the road. The memorial stands about 3km North of Charesholm on Route 2, at the intersection of Township Road 130. The exact coordinates are

Writing on Stone

It wasn't long ago I was beachcombing with Sydney my grand-daughter and meet up with a friend who picked up two stones off our PEI beach and taught her how to write on the stone.

I wasn't sure what to expect from a Park named Writing on Stone

Wow

Was I wowed

And then some

I took so many pictures

what can I say I was fasinated by this place

Everywhere you drove

This was the view

And this was my favourite picture of all.

I was able to finish knitting my cowl on the drive to Lethbridge.

Mothers Hug Your Children

It's hard to be humble this week when a nation is crying,

Ottawa was in our hearts and on our minds on October 22, when this a gunman shot and killed a soldier in front of the War Memorial that marks the grave of the unknown soldiers. Then ran into our government house Parliment Hill where 30 shots were fired and another wombed before it ended.

This week in the roving RV I made corn bread and I think I'll have some today with pink grapefruit, two of my favourites.

It was a lovely visit we had today, sorry it started out sad but least we forget. I'm joining in a few tea party blogs this week. As most of you know I'm living in a RV these days and travelling across Canada. This is a rejuvenating experience. I'm without data and only connect when we have free Wi-Fi and that has been our biggest challenge. I read all your comments and love having you along on my travels. Although it isn't easy to connect I try and get around to all.

Saskatchewan Corn Bread

Hello

Welcome to my Mosaic Monday where while driving through the Bad Lands of Saskatchewan we made a Crock Pot Corn Bread.

Fields of Bad Lands

Drums of Oil

Fields of pumps

Today's crock pot recipe is Corn Bread

Crock Pot Corn Bread
1c Yellow corn meal
1c flour
1/4 c white sugar
4tsp baking powder
1tsp salt
1c milk
1 egg
1/4c vegetable or corn oil

mix all dry ingredients together in one bowl, the corn meal, flour, white sugar, baking powder and salt.

Mix all your wet ingredients together in seperate bowl milk, egg and oil.

Make a well in centre of dry ingredients and dump in the mixed liquid

Mix just until wet but don't over mix

Pour into greesed crock pot

Bake on high for 2 hours or until tooth pick comes out clean

Slice and enjoy as a side or just along with a fruit and a cup of tea or coffee.
