RV travel HOB
Last night it was -6 in New Haven.
and
we were the only souls in the Wall-mart parking lot.
The night before we were in Maine, in the deep freeze. It was -20 and our water froze and we spent 2 hours with a hair dryer thawing out the pipes. It worked amazingly well and when we got them thawed we pumped antifreeze through the system so it wouldn't happen again. I figured that if it was -20 standing still, then when you are driving 110 kilometers an hour the wind chill is approximately anywhere from -30 or -40, no wonder our water froze.
Lol, I don't think people are travelling the direction we are because it is just as cold in most parts of the Eastern States as it is in Canada.
We ventured into a couple of antique shops and I found a Fire King mixing bowl with a handle on the side, pretty sharp and useful.
I also found some pin up calendar girls, these come without a handle and are pretty but not useful as the calendar is 1953, but, certainly sexy and my sister-in-law is going to love them.
I also found a section on smalls. When I think back I can remember my grandmother asking my granndfather to put 5 finishing nails in a wooden spool that had a hole in the centre. She then got a blunt sewing needle and taught me how to make this long rope by overlaping the yarn on the nails. We would make things with the rope. I found this carpet it the smalls section and it will be perfect for my doll house. Grandpa just told me it was spool knitting.
Thus is my travels up till today. We are about to get on the road soon and we are headed to Staton Island, where we spent a great deal of time at last year helping victims of Storm Sandy.
