Homemade & Handmade

I'll not say, "I'm back to blogging," just in case it is weeks before you hear from me again. However I sure have missed blogging and all of you.

These past weeks I've had the opportunity to discover the true meaning of "Handmade"

Everything at Grandma's Tea Room is Homemade however not always made by hand. My Kitchen Aid left me in a lurch and so therefore I've had to experience handmade.

It should be back together soon with a new gear and a spare on order.

This means my homemade scones for two weeks have been also handmade, as well everything I baked for the Queen Street Farmers Market the cinnamon rolls, sticky buns, rolls, bread and pretzels have all been made by hand. You don't miss something until its gone, funny I should say that when my French Gardener is out of town this week leaving me high and dry as my kitchen aid did. I miss them both, not equally but both.

back to the bowl and roller

I almost had forgotten what dough felt like.

A special request for these pickled eggs for the farmer's market this sunday is finished

I was able to get around to a few blogs to find out Sandi from Rose Chinz Cottage hosted our little tea room on her lovely blog Tea Time Tuesday, thank you Sandi. I had a nice visit and next visit I'll have you for my famous scones, I promise.

So I'm trying to keep the KISS method and perhaps I'll be back more often If I just "Keep It Simple Sweetie" so I'll say good-bye for now.

Thinking Pink

October is Breast Cancer Awarness Month and in tribute to BCA I'm Thinking Pink today and if all goes well with pictures I'll share my post with my neighbour in Prince Edward Island who also hosts a little tea time.

"I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers."- L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

I have the best of both worlds at the moment; my home is on an Island with Anne of Green Gables and I'm living out of my RV traveling across Canada as we speak.

I lost someone dear to me years ago and Pink Popcorn reminds me of her.

Pink also reminds me of sweet and innocent Anastasia and her little "broder" as she says.

My pink phone box was sliding back and forth on my work table so a little tac took care of that.

A gift shop was just busting with pink glass and we all know how i love glass.

A borrowed tea cup from the internet to share in Tea Time Tuesday.

Breast Cancer has affected many of us in one way or another - lost a friend, a loved one or someone even closer, ourselves. Way too many wonderful lives have been lost to this disease.

My Notes

Many coincidences have happened over the past 2 weeks since we left our little island. I started writing them down, like arriving at Tecumseh monument on the anniversary of his death, visiting a guests from last summer and she was seaglassing the night before, cash register receipt 666, reading food tastes better with company while we end up at Kelly's table that evening, I just watched a man put a note on my windshield that says "Hi, I moved here from P.E.I 49 years ago today, and I go home to PEI every year." Attached, is his name and phone number, ya you bet I'm goe might be related to my fishing buddy Norman Peters, ha ha ha

Sitting in Leamington, Ontario this am. News of a ship stopping around the Point Pelee when someone took very sick. They were trasnported by ferry to the hospital in Leamington - haven't heard the update as of yet.

A retired police officer in the Wal-mart parking lot informed us that our license plate was elligal in Ontario (long story, short) "Retired"

Blog away

Sometimes it's not about being right it's about being happy while other times it's not about being frustrated it's about finding something that works and going with it.
Hubby found it, it's called Blogaway and I can compose a blog off line and add pictures and it remains a draft, uncomplicated and easy to use.

Menopause is complicated and I have all the key components that go along with it and each day I'm taking one challenge that I feel affects me and I plan to make life simple again.  A few days ago I solved a challenge by purchasing Nice'n Clean lense wipes for my glasses, done.

Yesterday I had an issue with movement.
Ya motion, unnecessary movement, you know the kind where stuff is rolling all the time and you have no control.

This is my work table in the RV and with every pump, jump and crack on the road all my stuff on my work table moves back and forth.  With My NOOM (new outlook on Menopause) I think I can handle the challenge.
TAC
Yup, sold at most dollar stores and for pennies you can make your life simple again.  Just think of the many uses, hanging up stuff, instead of gluestick, I lost the back of my earring and rolled up a little bit of tac, there you go. I have my cell phone tac to my table, my glasses case is where I set them down, even my knitting needles refuse to fall on the floor because they are in tac.  That pen I can never find is right there in front of me when I want it.  I dropped something behind the counter and put some tac on the end of the broom handle and got it back. Good stuff and I've taken care of the momentum issues (anxiety)

We are back on the road after a short journey to Harriston, Minto in Ontario.  We visited friends and slept in a oh so comfy bed, had the yummiest supper of roast beef, yorkshire pudding, garlic whipped potatoes and steamed vegies along with cream peach pie and lemon meringue pie.
They are going to be socks, yup simple socks.
We are headed to NIAGARA Falls today but I almost forgot to share with you our latest small find. In Toronto on 128 Day avenue there is this small house, we needed to visit it seeing we have visited so many bigs on our trip.
All the street corners have this poster.
I know if I was the one missing I'd not think this was a joke.  I couldn't imagine wandering away from a nursing home with just my bedroom slippers on and not being able to be found because someone removed my missing picture from my poster.
Simple, a found field of corn ready for harvest has given me a feeling of Fall.
Sometimes you just have to live like you are from OZ, besides everyone should have a tin man in their lives. Cute, I'm finding a lot of lovely decorated driveways, mailboxes and front doors. Although they are hard to see through the rain drops today I'll be sharing some of the dryer ones as I make my way across.
Well until my next Wi-Fi connect, take care,
Cindy

Buttons & Bows

Visiting Ottawa was like stepping back in time.   I lived here years ago, came back and I'm no further ahead because I don't recognise most places due to change.  Something that never changes is Family and Friends! they are like buttons and bows, and when we visit we get all the nice things tied into one.  Visiting with them was rewarding from meeting ups, cookies, Mom's mustard pickles, to reminiscing and playing Ellen Degenerates's new IPhone charades, it was all fun.
This wasn't just a visit, no way I'm coming away with goods gifts and  Aunt Muriel's cookies.  Sharon my sister in law gifted me a set of these salt and pepper shakers, antiques with little ivory buttons on the top.  Love them and they are perfect for our little RV.
This is Sharon my sister in law in the middle and my brother Ralph on her right and my nephew Ralph on the left.  Sorry I didn't get a picture of them as I didn't have time because we used our time playing charades with the IPhone and had the best time and many laughs.  Did you know this program records you as you play so you can play it back and laugh even harder.  After two nights in a row we are in rib pain.
The drip catchers that are hand made came to me in dozens, another lovely gift.
Buttons and Bows, like Family and Fun, Cookies and Cream or Wine and Charades.... It was all fun and good memories were had.
Until our next Wi-Fi connection,
God Bless,
Cindy
